Sure-shot bankrolls Correa
Oh dear, again. Now it turns out that Ecuador's president Rafael Correa received campaign funding from everybody's favourite guerrilla group, the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarios de Colombia, or FARC.
After the revealing story on FARC guerrilla/drug dealer settlements in northern Ecuador, El País's Maite Rico dug up even more dirt on the link between president Correa and the rebel group considered to be terrorists by Colombia, the US and Europe. Today the paper reports that the emails on Raúl Reyes laptop indicate that the FARC funnelled up to 100,000 dollars to the campaign of "our friends in Ecuador."
